About the artist

Daria Huck is a nomadic Russian-German visual artist. Her research-based practice investigates rootlessness, belonging and identity through ink and photography. Her work emerges from a personal history of immigration, early rupture, and a rootless life across continents and languages.​

Born in Russia, raised inside theatre walls as the daughter of an opera singer, brought to Germany as an adolescent, she later became a full-time traveler, turning movement into an ongoing negotiation of identity within that condition.

​

Her formal education spans arts, photography, cultural studies and sociology in Germany, complemented by independent studies of artistic traditions within their original contexts, from Chinese ink in a Taoist monastery in China to indigenous storytelling techniques in Australia.

Alongside visual art, Huck works as a cross-cultural educator and advocate for migrant rights, after leaving a career as a director in a global corporate environment.
